Building the Messaging Platform for Real-Time Surgical Intelligence
Activ Surgical is the only company with FDA-cleared, dye-free perfusion imaging technology on the market. Using patented laser speckle contrast imaging, the company gives surgeons continuous, physics-based insight into blood flow and tissue perfusion during surgery, without dye, without a time limit, and entirely in the surgeon’s control.
It is a remarkable technology. But when Activ came to KBD, the story around it was fragmented. Different audiences were hearing different things. The website did not reflect where the company was headed. And terms like “AI-powered” were showing up in materials even though they did not describe the current product.
Getting the story right first
KBD started with stakeholder and surgeon interviews, followed by a messaging workshop with the Activ leadership team. Together, we landed on a unifying concept, real-time surgical intelligence, and built a full messaging platform around it: brand story, competitive positioning, audience-specific talking points, and a framework the entire company could pull from.
Then bringing it to life
With the messaging locked, KBD designed and built a new website that tells a clear, confident story across every audience Activ needs to reach: OEM platform partners evaluating integration, surgeons assessing clinical value, hospital administrators looking at ROI, and investors sizing the opportunity. We also developed the investor deck, a sales deck for OEM partner conversations, and a partner branding framework including “Empowered by Activ” co-branding for on-device use.
